A southern garden favorite, moisture-loving Hibiscus makes a lush, tropical statement with luxurious and brilliantly colored flowers. Hibiscus acetosella has attractive foliage that makes a big statement in summer gardens and bouquets. Start them both indoors, 8 to 10 weeks before transplanting outside after all threat of frost has passed. Provide full sun and consistent moisture throughout the season for the best results. They love heat! Intolerant of night chills, they must be brought indoors before even a hint of fall frost for a continued show, though in warmer climates they can be grown as a perennial and allowed to die back each fall.
